======> RE: Watch out for PDFDRIVER=0
"The problem with a product like PDF-Explode is that it is cost prohibitive for many companies that have alot of PDF users. Plus, the process has to be able to be totally controlled by the program without user intervention. PDF-eburst was a nice concept, but requires Adobe PDF standard and coul...

Kathleen,____Thanks for the reply. The cost of upgrading to version 10 is a problem for our users, but this may push them to do it. You could get your Christmas bonus yet!! :o)____Dave Francis

Here^s some more info on the problem.____If I load a report on a PC that can see the printer stored in the report, then no problem. If the printer is hidden, I get a timeload loading the report, then another timeout (NOT freeze - sorry!) when doing File|Print. Selecting and saving with a visible pri...

XP Pro - Slow loading reports
Hi all,____We^ve got 8.1 running on a large W2K SR3 network with XP Pro SR2 clients. Printers are HP4xxx types hanging on the network. Everything was ok until last week.____Suddenly, reports take 2 to 3 minutes to load in both RR and runtime. They do eventually load and run. On some reports I do not...

Chris,____I don^t know if this will help, but in my experience, XP is slower timing out on shares it cannot find or printers it cannot find. Are the default directory locations valid on the XP PC? __If they are, is there a local printer? If not, create a dummy local printer but do not set it to be t...

Kathleen,____Thanks for the reassurance on CDLL(). I^m willing to bet money that the problem is my ability to write the DLL correctly. Just to confirm, I^m doing this right -____The 8000 byte buffer is passed by reference to my function; that is I receive one parameter that is the pointer to the sta...

ASC()
I have a problem with RR version 6 to 9. I need to get the actual ASCII or HEX values of some bytes within a string. The ASC() function appears to react to RRW.SRT settings and cannot be relied upon. Tried external DLL with CDLL() but I read here that this does not work with 8.1 up. Anyone any ideas...

Hi RJ,____You can see I don^t come back to the pre-sales very often. Contact me at dave@suilven.com ____BTW RR works ok with ADS as long as you stick with the DBFCDX driver. The files on the server are standard format and the ADS driver allows others to open them for read-only use. ADS have their ow...
