I was having the same crash errors with RR8 under WinXP Pro. We were printing to an HP4050 with the 4050 driver. I switched to the LaserJet 5 driver and the printing started working.

I did some research online and figured out that the System TEMP folder is designated under CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > ENVIRONMENT (for NT 4.0) and the folder that was designated had been deleted off our.
