======> RE: file is already open error

Hi,____I^ve got this problem intermittently on 8.1, but on an NT4 network with W95/W98 clients. Is the network saying the file is open? or is it a flag in RR somewhere? Is there any way of brutally unlocking the file so life can go on?____TIA____Dave____

Thanks Kathleen,____Can I push some more please? Could someone spend a day talking to ADS and assessing the task. If the task is too great, that would at least allow you to say "2 years plus", or whatever. That means we can plan our future a bit better.____We are always honest with our use...

Yes, forget the control file - just use the DLL. The RIPARAM() function gives you the chance to interact with the report before printing. So, for instance, you can pump dates straight into the report, get the report to trigger processes within your app, etc all before you run it. This means that you...

ADS - Advantage DataBase Server

We, along with a lot of other small developers using xbase files, are having to look seriously at ADS. Files are getting larger and it is more and more difficult to maintain data integrity on MS servers.____I know ADS is on the Nice-to-have list, but I want to flag up here that the drift to ADS is g...

Kathleen,____Thanks for the answer - but I did not specify the question well enough! The problem is having different default folders for data and libs in each app. If RRW pops up with the wrong defaults, our users are likely to make a big mess of things. They^ll being using RRW6.5 for both apps, in ...

RR6 - Multiple Apps on 1 PC

We use RR with all our systems. We now have a user who wants to put 2 systems on one PC and run them concurrently. How can we duplicate the information in RRW.INI so both operate independently? He will use RR6, but I think we have the same problems with 8 and 9. Is there the equivalent of RRWRUN com...

I^ll look up an example, but we are using European format dates (dd/mm/yy) and I wonder if that is a factor.

Previous() with a date field has given us trouble in 8.0 and 8.1 We create a calc field to hold a DTOC() value and use that instead.

Yes, easy and fun. We asked a lot of our Blue Chip users to do some quotes we could put on our exhibition stand. Every one of them said "Great report writer" or words to that effect. Our systems just seem to exist to feed it data. Ho Hum!____Try doing a Scan in Crystal. Which reminds me - ...
