variable file naming

Post by Jay_(Guest) » Wed Mar 14, 2007 2:27 pm

Is it possible, when doing an export, to name the file according to something such as the date? ____At the end of the day, I use the Windows Scheduler to run RapidRunner report sets. There is one report in particular that I would like for the name to automatically adjust each day. For example, the file running today should be named orders_20070314.csv, tomorrow^s file would be named orders_20070315.csv, and so on. I am looking for a process that is as hands-off as possible. ____Thanks

Since set files are just text files, one way to automate things would be to create a R&R report that exports to text with a file extension of .set. In the report you create a calculated field to produce the output file line in the set file. Then you run this report as a scheduled task right before you run the set.____Or you could use VB or some other programming tool to update the .set text file.____Kathleen__R&R Support
