Windows 7 Compatability
Windows 7 Compatability
A previous response to this query stated ^All of these versions will run under Windows 7 however the installer for these earlier versions will not work. You would need to manually copy files to the destination machine^. Can you please say which files have to be copied and where to? many thanks.

The list of files and destinations is much too extensive to enumerate here [that^s the point of the installer ;) ]____However, one possible way to go would be to download the latest build from our website and install the viewer only. This does not require a s/n. Then you should be able to copy your current executables manually into the ReportWorks program folder.

Copying the files is only the first of your problems. Whereas the R&R installer works under Windows 7, the actual R&R program does NOT work under Win7 unless the end user has admin rights. This is because R&R is still installing its configuration files in the same locations as it did under 32 bit Win XP.____Under win7, only admins have read write privileges to those old XP locations. ____ALL of my customers are government agencies or Fortune 500 companies. NO ONE in those organizations has Admin rights except the IT department. The security gets even tighter in Windows 8, due out soon.____Unless your customers are home users or small business owners that set up their own PCs and give themselves admin rights, R&R is not going to work for them.____We are all waiting for the upgrade, but R&R has so far not expressed any interest in making the R&R program work with UAC. All software has to be modified to work with UAC or the time will come (probably in Windows 9) when none UAC compatible software simply will not run at all, even with admin rights.____We all need to keep encouraging R&R to get in line with UAC or else our long term loyalty to the program and our expenses in buying and upgrading R&R over the years will have been for nothing. R&R will embrace UAC or they will simply fade away. Those are the only two options.____
