Printing with a User ID and Log User Code

Post by Lisa1 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 9:54 am

I am trying to print to a Ricoh Aficio MP C6000 PCL5c Copy/Printer. Or organization require a User ID for printing and a User Code for logging.____Any report that I print from R&R Version 12, Build 12.5.001 ends up in the Ricoh error log indicating the a user ID and User Code is incorrect.____I can print to the Ricoh using other software, such as Microsoft Word with out problems.____I have checked the printer properties within R&R and the User ID and User Code are showing, but don^t seem to be sent with the printing job.____I end up having to print to a PDF driver and then sending the print job to the printer from Adobe.____This is a problem for several different people in our office. Their OS range from XP Pro to Vista to Windows 7.____Is there some setup that I am missing.__

To answer your question, I installed the Ricoh driver you noted onto my computer. Because I didn^t actually have the printer, I elected to print to file in all cases.____I found that clicking "preferences" (on the "General" tab) called up a dialog with Job / Log as a choice. Here is where I specified my UserID as well as the various actions of the driver.____When I went to print in R&R, I selected the printer, and then clicked "Properties" where I was able to enter the password. My PCL stream has this information at the header:____@PJL JOB__@PJL SET JOBNAME = "O:LivewareIncClientNetsCCTAbraDataPerfEntryLagTime.RRW"__@PJL SET AUTOTRAYCHANGE = ON__@PJL PAUSEDJOB__@PJL SET SAVEMODE = ON__@PJL SET JOBPASSWORD = __@PJL SET USERID = "LIVEWARE"__@PJL SET DUPLEX=OFF__@PJL SET QTY = 1__@PJL SET JOBOFFSET = OFF__@PJL SET STAPLE=OFF__@PJL SET PUNCH=OFF__@PJL SET SLIPSHEETPRINT=OFF__@PJL SET BITSPERDOT=2__@PJL SET FOLD=OFF__@PJL SET DATAMODE=COLOR__@PJL SET RENDERMODE=COLOR__@PJL SET RESOLUTION=600__@PJL ENTER LANGUAGE=PCL____I^m not sure why the password is blank, but it could be due to not having the actual printer. I noted that when I did the same thing in Notepad, the password was also blank.____I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information.
