Export to RTF - header dist. f/edge

Post by reshelman » Thu Apr 04, 2002 6:58 pm

I^m exporting a report to rtf. When I open the report with Word, the page header starts about 2" from the top, and last few lines at the bottom of the page overflow to the next page. Specifically in Word, if I go to File - Page Setup - Layout, the header is 1.88" from the edge. Where does this distance come from?____In my report, I have the top margin set to .5 inches. Changing this setting has no effect on the how far the header is from the top edge in the RTF document. I can email you sample RTF if you need it.____Thanks,____Robert

Does your report have a page footer band? If not, try adding one and see if it helps.____Kathleen__R&R Support

=> Spacing and exporting

Post by FrillockBat » Mon Apr 29, 2002 10:06 am

I have this problem as well. However, it is not in a single report, nor is it in a particular export type. It happens when I export to RTFs or to a text file.____To be specific, I have a report consisting of a group header, a record band, a group footer and a summary. Nothing more. When I export to either an RTF or a text file, I get extra lines where the pages break. In the text file, I get lines of text and then 6 blank lines. I assume this is where the "page" is breaking. In the RTF it is no big deal, but in the text file I^m trying to import into a grouped Excel sheet. The extra lines screw it up. Any ideas?

Update:____Tried adjusting the page setup. Set the top and bottom margins from .5" to .166". Instead of 6 blank lines I^m only getting 1 now. This seems to be the problem. I^m guessing that the export format is based upon the page setup, even for plain text files? Is there any way to export continuous data?

Install the generic/text only printer and then select that printer.__In file page setup set your top and bottom margins to 0 and for the page size select continuous/no page break.____Your text file should then not contain extra blank lines.____Kathleen__R&R Support
