Paging on Duplex printer

Post by kwestfall » Wed May 23, 2001 8:32 am

I am having trouble with paging on a duplex printer.____I read the technical bulletin on Duplex Printer Tips and followed those instructions. I created a function to determine if the page number was odd or even, and that function is working properly. I also added the two new page lines, as instructed, and set one to print only if the page number was odd. I have two groups - Group 1 is Salesman and Group 2 is Company. Originally, I had Group 1 set to Reset Page and Group 2 to Repeat Header. With these settings, the results were that the last company in the Salesman Group would reprint on a separate page before the next group began (only for those groups ending on odd-numbered pages). I removed the Repeat Header from the Company group, thinking that I then would get a blank page in between groups, but instead, I got a page showing data for Salesman number 2 and a page heading showing Salesman number 1^s name. ____In Format, Record Layout, I have un-checked all the boxes in the Formatting section.____How do I get a blank page to print after groups ending on odd-numbered pages? ____

With both Reset Page and Repeat header removed, I get the same result as above. Salesman 1^s data prints on pages 1 and 2 (okay). Salesman 2 is only one page, so it prints on page 3. Next, instead of the desired blank page for page 4, Salesman 3^s data prints on page 4, but the heading on this page references Salesman 2. I have a calculated field in the page header to identify the name of the salesman, and a field in the body that displays the salesman code, so I can see if they match or not.____I am not using any swap header or footer or anything like that.__Any clues?____Thanks for looking into this! We have a quarterly report that is over 1000 pages, that I would love to be able to duplex, if we can figure this out.____Kristi________

If your info is printing on a page header or footer, that info will print on all pages of the report, including the blank page.____You need to stick with group headers/footers in place of page header/footers in order for the blank page to be truly blank.____Kathleen__R&R Support
