jpg in email html output report

Post by jhleek » Wed Mar 05, 2003 5:47 pm

We are trying to do a burst email report that has an embeded jpg image. How do we get the image to show up on the recipient end? The image is available as a url but R&R will not let a valid url in the output.____TIA__joe

Kathleen,__If I take the html output file and change the tag to a url and email that file it works properly. It seems to have something to do with the default stuff that R&R wants to put in when you enter the image directory on the export screen. I still do not understand why this would default to an attachment. When I email this file directly it comes through just fine.__tnx__joe

Kathleen,__I have been playing with the image directory and everything seems fine until I try to put in the : after the http. Then R&R automatically puts in the file: which I dont want. Also it leaves a trailing which needs to be a /____Is there any way to get this fixed? We have a client we need to do these reports for on Mondays.__tnx__joe

One alternative is to explicitly add HTML tags as text in the report and export to text using a file extension of HTML. Text export ignores images so you would add a text field with the image source tag and location. Depending on the complexity of the report, this might be a feasible workaround.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,__We tried that idea both as text and as a field. the export routine changes the < and > so it is no longer html tag. Also tries to put font info on it.____We really need to have this working by monday.__tnx__joe

I have been able to successfully export to text files with HTML extension using text as the export type and have been able to use all kinds of HTML tagging.__Are you really selecting Text as the export type?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,__I am confused. I want my full report to be in html. If I export in txt then the output is txt. I can fill a field with html tags but would I have to do this for everything on the report?__tnx__joe

Yes you do need to tag everything but using calc fields makes the task not so bad to do. I used this method to create two reports where the second report was the detail and the first the summary. So you could view the summary page and then click to drill down to the details. Took a bit of work to set up but this was for a weekly critical problem tracking system so it got lots of reuse.____Kathleen__R&R Support
