R&R opens a transaction...

We had an issue where a user ran an R&R report against our production database and began a transaction.____The transaction remained open even though the report completed.__Not until the report was closed did the transaction go away____Is there an option or setting that can turn off transactions?____Why would a report need to open a tranaction if it is reading the database?____Thanks__Mike__
