Exporting Bands to a Text File...

Post by Imtyaz_Jumani_(Guest) » Mon May 17, 2004 2:24 pm

Hi,____I^m trying to create a simple report with a header, detail records and a trailer record (to contain a count of the number of detail records). I^m trying to export these to an ASCII Text Data File. I^ve managed to get the fixed record layout for the detail record correct. However, the export seems to only allow selecting a single band at a time. Please tell me this is possible...!!! I can imagine being an extremely common requirement.____I^m using R&R version 9.____If it^s not possible, is there a work-around for this ?. For example, is it possible from within R&R to simply call an external PL/SQL procedure to perform the extract that I require ?? If so, how ??__Or, for example, can exports from the three bands that I require exporting be conveniently merged into a single file ??____Regards__Imtyaz

If you export to text rather than text data R&R will send the whole report to the text file.__However it will also add blank lines to paginate this file as if it were going to a printer.____In Version 10 we have added a checkbox to the Text Export dialog that allows you to export without any page breaks or page margins which sounds like what you really need. But you would need to upgrade to get this functionality.____Kathleen__R&R Support
