Unable to Open Control File

Post by mshiv » Mon Jul 26, 2004 2:10 pm

Hello,____I have a program that uses the rrwrun.exe runtime to open a control file (rrunin.dbf), which in turn points to a library of reports. When within the external application, and I attempt to select a report via its menus, I receive an R&R XBase error: Unable to open control File. ____This is the latest version of RR, and the rrunout dbf markes it with a "J". This happens sporadically, it seems. It works on some machines but not on others. This never used to happen with the application until the updates to the newer RRwrun.exe.____Any suggestions? Please let me know if more info is needed.

A bit more information... this looks to be an application configuration problem, but only at times.____When this occurs to a pc, it will occur all the time. That is, if the other application is run directly from the *.exe. (Same directory that rrwrun.exe is in). If I run the application from a shortcut pointing to that .exe... reports will run via the application without problems. ____At this point I am not sure why this would only happen on occasion on some machines. And as well why a shortcut would allow RR to find the control file.

Do you specify a full path and filename to the control file on the command line?____What is the exact command line you are using?____Kathleen__R&R Support

J means syntex error in your control file.____You need to state what version you are using before anyone can really assist you. You should also be much for detailed in the description since no one knows what your report is or how it relates to anything else.____If you are using R&R 10+ and are trying to run an rrw type report, then make sure that the ri_report shows the .rrw at the end of the report name and the ri_library is blank.____There may very well be other factors that are not know, like is there any ri_alias within the report and what the syntex is.____You have a lot of space to be as detailed as you want in these forms.____
