One of my sites has used HP printers for several decades across the network with no problems. Now they are changing to Xerox FollowMe queues. I get a issue with the reports saying: "Cannot match printer or port in control file". The report is set for screen preview before printing. Can anyone out the help please? Using current version of RR____Best regards,____Bruce

That means that it cannot find the printer name. Are you certain the proper print name is being specified. Maybe this printer has something wierd in it. ____I have an option in my software that uses the windows printer api to retrieve a list of printer names so I can be certain that it is passed to Reportworks properly.

Cliff,____Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried using the windows api and can list and select the print driver. As it uses the Xerox ^follow-me^ feature the driver is not an actual driver but a virtual print queue. I think that this is the problem. If I direct the job directly to the printer it works fine, if I go to the virtual queue it fails.____Has anyone not see this and is there any way around this problem?____Best regards,____Bruce

Is there anyone from ^Liveware^ that can assist with this problem or are we dealing with a redundant tool that has little or no support and no updates?____Regards,____Bruce

Sorry for the delay in replying. We appreciate your support.____You don^t specify how the reports are being executed. Typically, the message you^re getting is thrown by a runtime shortcut trying to us a printer that^s no longer available.____A typical shortcut / runtime input file looks like:____RI_REPORT=X: eport_foldermy_report.RRW__RI_PRINTER=?__RI_WPTR=EPSON WF-7610 Series______The runtime input file has an extension of .RRS or .RSS depending on whether it^s an Xbase or SQL report (respectively). These files are editable in Notepad.____If you need more help with configuring the shortcuts or tracking down what^s going on, you can call us at (800) 936-6202. But, depending on the nature of the problem, your call might be chargeable.
