Getting user Input in reports

I^m trying to setup a report that request information from the user using the generic report writer (viewer). How do I setup the report so when they (the users) run the report, the report requests text input. I want to then pass this parameter as a filter to the report. I would like to do this within the report designer without external connections to other tables or VB coding.I am using R&R Xbase version 8.x presently__
