Group headers, no print or preview

Post by Jeff_Welton » Fri Mar 07, 2003 11:36 am

New to RR SQL ver. 10.0, build 10.0.010, running on Win93SE.____I^ve used all previous versions, starting at 5.3 (I think) and never seen this, but I^m doing a fairly simple report with one group header, containing normal header info and one field. I don^t see any of the group header info on preview or printed reports - it only displays on the monitor. Any ideas? Printer is properly selected and I don^t get any errors when printing. The title and all Record lines show, just the Group Header is missing. Colour me confused...____

And you are sure that you have selected a valid group field?____Kathleen__R&R Support

I^m not quite sure what you mean by this, Kathleen - but I suspect that it does indicate you may have found the problem! Could you elaborate, please?____In my specific case, I am sorting by fields identified as ITEM_NUMBER first, then by ACCOUNT_NAME. I am grouping by ITEM_NUMBER only and have selected "Print Once". Beyond that, I don^t know how to confirm if I have selected a valid group field or not... On a further note, if I move all the information in the group header up to the title field and delete the group header lines totally, I can see the information on preview and it will print. My header does include a field (the ITEM_NUMBER field), but that shouldn^t affect it.____What I^m doing now is the exact same report I^ve done for the past five years using Xbase, but now we^re running a new SQL database, so I^m getting to play with some new toys!____

Whoops! Now I know what you mean! Thanks for the help, you were right on the money. I had the header set to level 2 - but only 1 level of grouping. Deleted this header, created a new one set to level 1-ITEM_NUMBER and all is fine now.____Thanks, again, Kathleen, got me on the right track!____
