International Date Format
Hi Kathleen,____Please tell me I^m wrong. From what I found out during my first steps with a windows version of R&R (9.0) and its runtime module I have to conclude:____1. The regional settings that are in effect when a report is created default the field properties like decimal point, date format, ...____2. If you want to change these formats later on, maybe because you want to use the same report in a different country, you have to change _all_ numeric and date field formats manually.____3. If you use the runtime module and enter a query on date fields there is no way around using the date format that was in effect when the report was created. __To make the point clear: If you enter a query for a sample report in the RL directory you have to use the american date format, no matter what your regional settings say.____Back in the DOS version you (only) had to change the settings in the report. Can this be done in the Windows version? Or is there another setting I haven^t found yet?____Thanks in advance.____Michael.________

You are correct that the saved settings rule.____The only way to change the saved settings to the current windows default is to open the report in the designer, open the control panel and make an alteration to the current windows setting ( for example if currently you are using metric, change to US and then back to metric) so that the apply button is active.____Then ok the changes and return to the report. It will inherit the "changed" settings.____Users have asked for a user current control panels setting as an R&R INI choice to allow current settings to take precedence over the saved report settings.__We will hopefully finally add this in the next release.______Kathleen__R&R Tech Support

Hi Kathleen,____thanks for your reply. I will check if it works. Sounds interesting!____It would be a GREAT if the settings were accessible from within the INI file. The best solution I can think of is the definition (name and value) of user formats that can be chosen by name from within the designer. A redefinition of the format assigned to a name in the INI file should then "apply" the changes to all the fields formatted with the name. Oh, I^d love that! ____Michael.__
