Leading blanks in SCOPE values

Post by Peter_Derriman_(Guest) » Tue May 28, 2002 5:22 am

We are using RRW Xbase version 8.0 build 923.0.0__We have several reports which are run from control files____RI_REPORT = f:fdonlinecontrolFundHist.rrw__RI_PARAM1 = AITC Fund History__RI_PRINTER = ?__RI_WPTR = ?__RI_SCOPE = O__RI_LOSCOPE = A1A93520010531__RI_HISCOPE = A1A93520020430____The scopes we specify are a 6 character code followed by a date in DTOS format.__This works perfectly for codes which do not have leading blanks.__Unfortunately, if we have a code of, say, 3 characters, i.e. 3 leading blanks followed by 3 non-blank characters we don^t seem to have a way of specifying this to RRW - it automatically ALLTRIMs values in the .IN file.__We have got around the problem by using a DBY as input to RRW and we can specify values in the scope fields there with leading blanks but we really prefer to use the text control file.__Is there any way to specify leading blanks inthe text file ?__I have tried enclosing in quotes but that does not work.__

I think that this really is the way that the text file works. Leading spaces do get trimmed.__Kathleen__R&R Support
