Multiple instances of RRWRUN

Post by SimonBray » Thu Aug 23, 2001 10:28 am

What am I missing ? When we attempt to run multiple users of RRWRUN.EXE at the same time we cannot - I suspect because there is a single RRUNOUT.DBF. Can you point each user to their own copy of RRUNOUT.DBF (perhaps in their C:WINDOWSTEMP directory??) We have RRWRUN.EXE installed on the server - if we copied this to a local dircetory for each user would this help ?____Regards,__Simon Bray.

just add a /O switch in the command line in the shortcut followed by the output filename - here is a quote from the "developing applications" help file:__**********__You can distinguish Viewer status files by using the /O switch to specify the directory in which the file will be created and/or to specify the complete status file name. ____For example, the following command generates a status file named MYSTATUS. Because no path is specified, the status file will be created in the current directory.____RRWRUN RRWRUNIN 5 /OMYSTATUS____To specify the directory in which a status file should be created, enter a full path and name. If you enter a path without a file name, the Viewer will create a table named RRUNOUT.DBF (if you are using a control table) or a text file named RRUNOUT.OUT (if you are using a text control file) in the specified directory.____© 2000 Liveware Publishing Inc. Simon,____We create both the RRIN (control table called in the command line) & RROUT file name to be based on the user^s initials (which is a global variable) and specified with the /O switch.____The initials are stored based on the user id and password when the user logs into the application. This has worked well for us for years. It also prevents the same user from running two reports at the same time, something we consider a plus. ____Pat__
