Problem calling Up RRWRUN ??

Kathleen (and others),____Enviro: RRWRUN Version 9.0 and a windowed 32-bit dbf application that ^calls up^ rrwrun.____When calling up rrwrun.exe from a ^Clipper^ application, I have had no problem for years -- and still don^t !____However, I^m now calling up the same rrwrun viewer from a 32-bit windowed application (based on the xHarbour database language and MiniGui), *BUT* the rrwrun executable is ^hiding^ behind the windows of my main app and I can^t get it in the foreground in order to run my report (by screen, print, etc).____Question: Is there something different/special to do to ensure that the RRWRUN window shows up in the foreground on top of other windows ??____(I^m going nuts with this, and have tested calling up the RRW Designer itself (i.e.,
rw9
rw.exe), and find that it *does* come up in the foreground with no problem. Its just the ^viewer^ that is causing me this grief !)____TIA,____-Mel Smith__

There is nothing special from the R&R side. Maybe there is a setting available in the calling application environment?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____ Thanks for the response.____ Last nite, I found a (partial) answer :____ For no particular reason, after activating rrwrun, I tried calling up a windows procedure/function (DO EVENTS) which is pre-processed into PROCESSMESSAGES()). Placing this procedure call in my *calling app* in a loop after activating rrwrun cured the problem for my win98se machine. But the same setup on my winXP still fails to show rrwrun ^underneath^ the main app^s windows ???____ This is troubling, because I don^t know *what* the process messsages procedure does, or who these messages are for, or where they come from :((____ Any insight as to what is happening with this inter-process stuff when I call an external program (i.e., rrwrun) would be helpful to me.____ Also, when I activate rrwrun in this way, control *immediately* returns to my calling app (where I go into a loop looking for exclusive access to rrunout.dbf with ^do events^). I can find no way to stop control from immediately returning to my app after activating rrwrun (and I^ve tried about 6 different methods (including batch files, ^start /w rrwrun^, waitrun(^rrwrun^,3), etc, etc))____Thanks again.____-Mel Smith__

Hi Mel,____just for you info: I use RRWRUN.exe v.10+ with last version xharbour (oct-05) and GTWVW. In my prgs, a new blank screen window opens (what is not very nice), and the RRW viewer comes automatically into foreground. __Program window itself is not accessible at this time. ____When I close the viewer, the blank screen closes and my application gets hand back and continues.____Claude

Claude,____ Thanks for the extra info.____ My problem is with my XP Pro laptop, and Minigui (rather than GTWVW).____ I don^t know *where* to look next :(((____ (Everything runs fine on my win98SE machine but not on my WinXP Pro. The rrwrun screen hides behind (and is not activated) on the XP machine until my app is deliberately crashed (using the 3-fingered salute). *Then*, the rrwrun window pos up ^bright and smiling^ but *too* late !)____-Mel Smith
