Querying by date

I need to query a group of records by date, the dates in the table are formatted as DD/MM/YYYY.__When I try to Query the table, the date format in the selection rule screen appears as:____Month Day Year__7-July 1-30 YYYY____Days entered >12 produce an invalid value error.____Can I change the format of the date in the selection rule screen anywhere.____Version 10.0__Build 10.0.010__XBase edition.____Thanks__Steve____
