R&R SQL 12.5 Export to CSV

Post by carolm_wgp » Thu Feb 11, 2010 9:28 am

I am having a problem exporting from an SQL report. With the RRW report, I exported to a CSV file then changed the extension so that it was saved to a TXT file. With RSW, extra spaces appear in fields where they did NOT appear with the RRW report. This TXT file is used for searches on our web site and the spaces make it unusable. Any idea why these extra spaces appear after the field contents and how we can fix it?__RRW:__543349,06/16/2009,"6/25/2009",WG021109,Phillips,Mr.,"29115-4721",*1Z92W9270369973941____RSW: __543349,06/16/2009,"6/25/2009 ",WG021109 ,Phillips,Mr.,"29115-4721",*1Z92W9270369973941__

Can you use a calculated field with the trim() function in place of the current field that comes through with a trailing space?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Once again, you were able to solve the problem. I am not sure whether the extra spaces were coming from the software or the report writer and I guess it doesn^t matter. The "TRIM" function was the answer for removing them. I am a self-taught report writer and that is a function that I never needed before and was unaware of. Thanks for the help!
