R&R XB for W 6.5.08 and WXP Pro

Post by Enrique_Flores_(Guest) » Tue Nov 30, 2004 12:52 pm

Yes, I know that is an old version, but a client of mine is still working with it, (I hope next year upgrade to Version 9, or 10 or 11)__but she´s trying to run and old application (in clipper!) in a new laptop computer with WXP pro and when a report is invoked she gets a message like ^It can not be run a 16 bit Windows program^ or something like that (It^s in spanish). In the detail it says that ^it can´t run the file rrwrun.exe (o one of its components). Be sure that the file and the path are correct and that all libraries be available.^ The case is that in others pc^s I have run that version in WXP and has worked. The laptop is an IBM ThinkPad R51. First she tried with preinstalled WXP and then with an a just installed version (I think without service packs). Is there something to do? Do anybody has an idea? Thanks a lot.

Version 6.5 is a 16 bit program intended to run on a 16 bit operating system.____Not sure why it is unhappy (since I can run 6.5 on my XP machine) but equally not sure how to make it happy short of an upgrade.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I have resolved the problem. That machine only needed a little file called ctl3d.dll (23kb), that the other machine didn´t need, or was part of the old version of Windows (98) and the WXP pro doesn^t include. Hope serves to someone.
