R&R and Vista

I^m puzzled as to what the situation is with respect to R&R and Vista. There seem to be a couple of contradictory posts in the forum... reading topic 3516 suggets that R&R is working under Vista for this developer (apparently the problem with Vista that led her to make her posting turned out to be a printer driver problem, not an R&R problem). Reading topic 3497 however suggests that there is some incompatibility, especially considering the (somewhat vague) response from Liveware support that Vista support is "in the works". ____What does "Vista support is in the works" mean. Is it just referring to a release that will contain a Vista-compatible PDF driver (I was aware of the amunyi driver problem and was not concerned as it does no impact us), or is there some other incompatibility. Do we really need to run R&R from a virtual machine as the poster of topic 3497 states? And if so does this just affect the development environment or user machines?____As I read somewhere else in the forum, it won^t be long before we start running into machines pre-loaded with Vista. I find it hard to believe current versions of R&R won^t be compatible (we have version 9), but am a litle concerned having read this post .____Thanks__Dan B.______/**** Topic #3516 *****/____M Noel__unregistered user__Mar-06-07, 05:00 PM (EST)__ __"R&R 10+ and Vista"__ __We have new PCs with Vista Home Edition and I cannot print from my delphi application with the R&R viewer.__I get a message from Vista : ... a problem occurs with R&R Report viewer and it will be closed !____Is there a way to print with R&R with version 10 ? or a higher version ?____Thanks for help,____Micheline.______kfleming__unregistered user__Mar-07-07, 10:16 AM (EST)__ __1. The R&R executables should run fine under Vista. The compatibility problem is with our install routines. We are still using an older copy of Installshield that still has some 16 bit code inside of it so that it will not run under Vista.____We are working on an update to the installer and a rebuild of all of our sources so that we can provide Vista support.____Note that due to licensing issues, it will not be possible for us to provide the Amyuni PDF driver as part of our Vista release.____Does that clear things up?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Specifically specifying the output file name without user intervention under program control. That requirement is an absolute necessity. ____As for the licensing issue, what does that really mean? All report writers that I know of can print to PDF^s without being required to have another PDF driver installed, like acrobat or any number of products. Acrobat works fine but requires user intervention and costs a pretty penny.____Cliff.

Thanks for the update on Amyuni. I understand the problem and am waiting for the alternative PDF driver to become available as it is absolutely necessary for our work. I would recommend a api set that is built into the software and does not require installation as a printer.
