R&R on Citrix

All~ I am running R&R 9.0 to run reports from our VFP application. What I was wondering was if anyone had suggestions about the proper installation procedure for R&R in a Terminal Services or Citrix envirvonment? Our normal installation routine for a regular desktop PC client entails:__1. map a network drive to the share of the VFP database__2. run the setup.exe for R&R from the ... rwriter folder on the server____This normally works fine for desktop pcs but I have been running into issues in a multi user terminal environment dealing with the rrw.ini being updated or not being present at all in the mapped share. Should we start recommending the installation of R&R from a CD on the terminal server to ensure the proper files are installed on the application server? Are there any other configurations settings or files that we need to make sure are setup properly on the application server?____Thank you for your assistance.

I am pretty sure that it has to do with how profiles are set up for the citrix users but I do not have enough experience in configuring this stuff to give you anything more than this suggestion.____Kathleen__R&R Support

What I am trying to ask on this one is, we have determined that there can be problems with the runtime installation if you do not have the RRW.ini in the share on the server during the installation. My questions are:__1. since the rrw.ini is not on the installation media as far as I know, and is created based on the system it^s installed on during the setup process, would it be best to install R&R directly on the Citrix server instead of using the runtime?__2. If this is the case, how does licensing work as I know the run time does not require anything else, but this is different?__- Note, once during testing I tried copying the rrw.ini from the file server, which is the one full installation of R&R on the network, and copied it into the runtime share. This helped but since it had different screen settings and such designed for the file server specifically there were issues with this as well. __Thank you for your time, any asssistance would be helpful.

RRW.INI is really an optional file. R&R will run perfectly fine without an INI in place except if you are running the runtime OCX,DLL or RapidRunner in which case the PROGDIR32 directory that is specified in the INI file will be used to locate the runtime executable.____The INI file is however capable of storing default information (such as default data and report directories) so it does indeed come into play. We recently had a Citrix customer who had two users that could not successfully run reports from an application. What was found was there was an RRW.INI that was stored in these user local profile where the PROGDIR32 and the DATADIR pointed to the wrong server location.____One strategy is to place the RRW.INI in the same directory as the runtime executable. An INI in the program directory will take precedence over any local copy.____Kathleen__R&R Support____
