Arpeggio keeps searching forever

I have Arpeggio 2.0 in an OEM version.__A report listing purchaser name (from a Names table) plus various information about the purchase (from a Purchase table) worked. I access the report via a text command file so I can specify a date range.__I added the City field (from the Names table) to the report-- the idea of course was to see whether we are pulling our clients equally from all surrounding areas. The report looked like it was running, but never came up with any results-- the hourglass just kept pouring sand indefinitely. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a problem with OEM versions of Apeggio, if they^re any different at all? This has been unbelievably frustrating....__Thanks for any help you can offer.____djkm

There is not a problem per se with Arpeggio. What underlying database platform are you using?____Kathleen__R&R Support

I re-read your original posting and it sounds like you are running this report via runtime. If so, do you see this same problem from with the Report Designer as well?____Kathleen__R&R Support

It doesn^t work either; but I think this is because the report includes a Start Date and an End Date, and a filter to include only records between the two dates. If you Print Preview from inside Report Designer, you bypass the dialog that lets you set Start Date and End Date.____I also just now deleted the offending new field-- and the report still doesn^t work. Now I^m really confused, because I^m sure SOMETHING was working the other day...____Aarrghhh.

I think that the problem is that the filter condition is being evaluated locally by R&R rather than being passed to the SQL engine for evaluation. If you are using RIPARAM() based calc fields in the query then this is definitely the case.__The only way around this is to use RI_WHERE instead of the RIPARAM calcs so that you send the date selection directly as a WHERE clause to the SQL engine.______Kathleen__R&R Support
