RR 10+ Server Install Question

Post by Harris_sw » Tue Dec 02, 2003 10:32 pm

I am installing version 10+ using the server option. During the ODBC portion I receive:____String variable is not large enough for string. Check the string declarations. Error 401.____In the past I thought I saw a post saying this was related to an ODBC driver being installed that wasn^t needed but I can^t find that post now.____After that when I do the workstation install I get the same error. The workstation install is horribly slow and the icons it installs don^t even have the usual look, just the default box. You can^t do a right click and get a properties and when you open report designer it is so slow it makes RR useless (minutes to open, locks the whole screen while waiting). This is with all the patches installed.____Any ideas? I tried this 2x; the first time it did not even install the xbase report designer on the workstation. The second time it did, but with the plain icons. Both times, horribly slow response time when trying to use designer.____Server: Win2k__Workstaion: Winxp pro____Any ideas?__Steve

Hi Steve,____Check which version of MDAC you have. 2.7 or above would be recommended, if it^s an ODBC problem this should sort it out :)

I am sending you out an updated CD that corrects the installation problem that was present in an earlier 10+ install CD when you selected certain ODBC drivers as part of the installation.____Kathleen__R&R Support
