Dear Friends,____ My V9.0 cannot seem to find my RR.UDF file (which I^ve been using for years)in V6.0a.____ Where/how do I tell RRW.EXE and RRWRUN.EXE where the RR.UDF is.____ (In older versions I had a RI_UDF field that I could use but what about 8.1 and 9.0)____ Thanks for any help you can offer !____-Mel Smith__

Version 9 will always look for RR.UDF in the R&R program directory or if that directory contains a file called RRWLINK.INI, it will look in the RRWLINK directory that is set in that file.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____ Thank you again !!____ I hope my rate of asking questions will fall off rapidly as I get used to using RRW9. I found out that V9.0 is less tolerant of errors than 6.0a was ! Turns out that unused aliases (i.e.., RI_ALIASn)cause failures in V9.0 !____ Right now, I^m trying to integrate a call to RRWRUN from inside a DOS program (after the automated conversion to a .RRW file).____ As of last nite, I got the report running ! (albeit in a primitive Courier form with all the boxes etc using primitive ASCII chars. Looks like I^ll have to ^doctor^ all the reports after the conversion.____ Oh well ....____Thanks again,____-Mel Smith__

Mel,____If you are running RRWRUN using input from a runtime input table (dbf) from Clipper apps, I can help you as I have several of these for which I have converted 6.0 reports (rp1^s) to rrw^s. Also, it^s a little trickier if the apps must run in both Win9x ans Win2000.____Let me know if you need anything.____cal____

Cal,____ Thanks for the offer !____ Yes, I do use input an input .DBF file (in my case its either Reports.dbf or now, for RRWRUN, WinReps.dbf).____ I have used this method for more than ten years now, and its always worked successfully. But the transition from 6.0a thru 8.1 to 9.0 is a little touchy.____ I have only a couple of remaining problems before I get a totally successful report that my client can use properly.____ I^m sure I^ll resolve those minor problems in the next few days.____ His major issue is the addition of .PDF report capability to the regular selection of reports from *within* my regular DOS application (in this case my Structural Steel Estimating Program (EST)).______Thanks again for your offer ! I^ll be in touch.____-Mel Smith

It provides the option from within the Clipper app to select printers or display to screen whichever report was selected from the reports menu. It writes to a copy of the runtime input file record before making the RRWRUN call. I plan to add PDF option and e-mail to it very soon.____cal
