All of a sudden, I have had a couple of instances where the R&R Viewer Runtime crashes when the user tries to view a report and print from the view report screen. ____The error also occurs if the user views a report and then closes the report screen. ____The error message is "R&R Report Viewer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."...."If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem." ____We are using Runtime 8.1 from withing a VFP8 application____Thanks for any help you can provide.____

If the application allows the user to select a printer, try using the properties button in the print dialog prior to printing.____BTW Version 8 is from quite a few years ago so it may be time to upgrade.____Kathleen__R&R Support

This application does not enable the user to select printer. ____I hear you about the old version. I^ve bought every version of R&R since 8.1 including Infinity, but none are as fast when launched from within an application as 8.1, or as stable when writing reports. ____So, even though I have kept up with your latest technology, 8.1 is still the one that gets the job done for me and the customer.__

Kathleen,____I did attempt to replace the runtime files from 8.1 on the user^s system with the Infinity runtime files. Actually, ____This is the response from the user:____"Now when I go to the report viewer page, not only will it not print from that page, but I also get the same error message when I simply close the page. I am still able to print if I a simply select a game and a report go straight to print without viewing it. I would like to view it before I decide to print it."____So, in a nutshell, the issue is that the controls on the viewer executable, when clicked, cause a memory exception error. And, V 12 is less forgiving of whatever problem exists than V 8.1. ____Any help would be appreciated.______Nick____P.S. I have seen various posts about turning off the PDF Driver and turning off the Librarian, that seem to be a cause of the Report Designer crashing. You also have suggested adjusting the AutoSave.____I am wondering if you could list these and any other settings that, when set to off, will bring the R&R Desinger Environment to be as "stripped down" as possible. Its not that I dont want to use the latest Designer - it would save me a lot of time, but only if I dont lose my work before I can save it.

We had a similar problem that affected some PCs and not the other. We fixed the problem by putting everyone on the same version of the oracle client. One version worked and the other didn^t.

Thanks Diane. This is a simple PC application with local dbfs.____From the sound of it, this memory error is happening across the board.
