Auto-trim v. 6.0 to 12.0.002

I pretty much do the initial development of my reports in the DOS version 6.0. Many times, I print them via runtime still out of the .rp1 format. In v.6.0 when fields are touching, auto-trim eliminates spaces between fields. In the current version, 12.0.002, this action doesn^t appear to work. I have fields that run over the top of each or now have spaces between each. Since the property "Trim - Print at the previous field" is not turned on, at printing, spaces or overtyping happens. I can send you screen prints to show the difference. I didn^t see this problem with previous versions.____Can you provide any solution besides creating a bunch of calculated fields to trim out the spaces? GJB______

If you select the line and then use Trim Fields button then autotrim should be enabled for all fields on the selected line.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen, I understand how to trim in ver 12. However, I am not saving the file in ver 12, rather using ver 12 runtime to print the ver 6 .rp1 report. I am not interested resaving all my files in individual files (I still prefer the efficiency of the .rp1 format, plus I^m not using anything fancy in my presentation). ____I didn^t have this problem with previous versions so it looks like something introduced with the latest version. I^m really hoping that Livewarepub remains committed to backward compatibility. Any other ideas?

I just tried a quick test of a DOS report, and for me in V12, the fields are trimmed.____What pitch size are you using the in DOS report and do you have a font file?____Could be we just need to edit the RRWFIF.INI to correct things for you.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,__I^m using font file RR4SIPCL.FIF. The fields have a Universal font (9), 9 point. I^m printing on an HP LaserJet 4000N - which hasn^t changed. I^m happy to send you PDF^s showing the report printed in ver 6 versus version 12, if you^d like. GJB

I did a few quick tests and for me my DOS reports where fields are touching do have the print at end of previous field property enabled.____Maybe you could send me one of your reports so I can compare yours to mine? I would need the actual report file rather than screen prints of its output so that I can see how the report itself is constructed.____Keep in mind that fonts/field placement are handled quite differently in the DOS vs the Windows release. If you want to develop in DOS and then run in Windows, you should probably avoid using a font information file. That gives you control of the ruler spacing in the Windows release by editing the RRWFIF.INI.____Kathleen__R&R Support__livesupport@livewarepub.com
