Shared Printer / Wrong Font

Hi,____We have quite a number of users who use Oki 320 Dot Matrix printers and we seem to be having a problem getting these printers to print in text mode. We have found that the driver that comes with Windows for the Oki 320 does not appear to support printer resident fonts, for some reason, but as these printers emulate an Epson FX we simply install the Epson FX 1000 Driver and set the font within the report to Utility 17.____This works perfectly when printing locally, however when we set the printer as a shared printer on the network and try to print to it from a workstation it seems to come out in NLQ 10, which is obvoiusly much, much slower.____We have also had similar problems with a Samsung Dot Matrix printer printing in Graphics mode remotely but in text mode locally. Has anyone else experienced anything similar and did any of you guys manage to resolve it.____Any help would be appreciated.____Regards,______Mike Wilcock__Stanford Technologies Limited

Hi,____Just in case this is any use to anyone, after a couple of days messing without much success I finally think I^ve figured it out. It would appear that the remote shared printer has to be set as the default Windows printer.____For example if the default printer is HPLJ4 and I select Oki320 from the printer dailog the report will print in slow graphics mode, and not line up properly. If I set the default printer to Oki 320 and leave the print dialog unchanged (just click Ok) the report prints in fast text mode.____Not quite sure why but there it is.______Regards,______Mike Wilcock__Stanford Technologies Limited
