Post by Mel_Smith_(Guest) » Fri Jul 08, 2005 5:04 pm

Kathleen ( & perhaps others),____Enviro: R&R V6.0a and Clipper____ On an older report (but on a newer XP machine) the following error occurs and is returned from the R&R runtime system (rrunp & rrun):____ "No fields to export on selected line"____ But, I^m not *exporting* anything, simply displaying a report on the screen.____ No other machine in this location shows this error (and we^ve tried three others Win98SE, Win2k, WinXP.____Any hints please ???______TIA,____-Mel Smith______

Kathleen (& Others),____ Correction:____ On my Dell XP machine, the report *also* faulted with the same (crazy) error ???____ Also, I note that on the failing XP machine that:____ - RRUNOUT.DBF is present but empty____ - There are several R&R created temporary files left in my running directory. For example:__ OPY1DS.TMP__ #R0Q3KZC.TMP__ #R0Q3ZC.TO#__ 0Q3KZC.TMP__ #R0Q3KZC.TM#____I hope that with these extra clues (and the correction), that someone (hopefully Kathleen) can tell me what to change on the XP machine to allow running of this old report.____Thanks for any help offered !____-Mel Smith__Edmonton, Canada__

Kathleen,____ (from my office on Sunday morning again)____ In experimenting with the report to try and get rid of the problem, I noted that I had two instances of ^Pre-processed totals^ in the offending DOS report.____ For no special reason, I removed these pre-processed totals and tested again. Result:____ the report worked !!!____ However, I *do need* those preprocessed totals.____ I still have other older reports (along with this problem one) that have to be converted to R&R for windows, but in the meantime:____ Do you have any other suggestions for a temporary solution ??____Thank you for any further hints.____-Mel Smith__

Kathleen said:____>I would need you to send me the report and some sample data __>to try to make sense of this one. ____Kathleen,____ Thanks but in the last few days my client told me to convert the offending reports to windows. I *did* so, and the error disappeared.____ So, for future reference:____ Preprocessed totals in DOS 6.0a R&R can sometimes in WinXP machines (in about half of the 6 XP machines we tested) cause an error where the rrunout.dbf file is created, but is empty. There are several (i.e., 5 or 6) temporary files left laying around in the operating directory and R&R fails. These same reports work perfectly on Win98SE machines, and on Win2K machines.____ The fault occurs in standalone situations and on a Novell network too.____ Another ^techie^ and myself went over the properties of rrun.exe and rrrunp.exe, and could find nothing different in the machines that worked and ones that didn^t work. Also, the properties of the ^calling^ DOS app was the same in all cases. Very strange !!____Thanks for the response.____-Mel Smith
