I recently upgraded a Vista user to the v12.5 viewer. Now, after the viewer window opens, Windows says "R&R Report Viewer, Xbase Edition has stopped working. A problem cause the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." (I have a screen image I can provide if you want to see it.)____What problem would cause the program to stop working correctly?

Try disabling the dictionary/librarian in the INI file and see if that helps.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Both RRW.INI and RSW.INI say LIBRARIAN=OFF and DICTIONARY=0, but the error persists. It fails in the same way whether RRWRUN.EXE is started by the application or by double-clicking it.

Copy RRWRUN.EXE and RRPD.DLL to a new folder in the root of the drive and then see if you can double click rrwrun.exe.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I tried putting the INI file in the test folder, but that had no effect on the situation. It did, however, give me the impetus to push on. I tried some other things, including removing the image file (JPG) from the report definitions. Voila! The viewer worked as advertised. I tried other image formats (BMP, TIF) - No luck. I copied the test folder back to my XP machine. It failed there, too. Now I knew it wasn^t just an issue with Vista. After comparing the folders on the two machines, I found some old R&R DLL^s in the application folder on the Vista machine that, of course, the installation of v12.5 hadn^t replaced. Once I got rid of those old files, the viewer was happy and so was I. Now, we keep our fingers crossed that the users won^t find something else...
