All,____I^m trying to print report on a custom page size of 8.5 x 7 in WinXP. I can save the report with the custom page size and it works fine. But if I copy the report to another computer running WinXP the custom page size does not work but instead prints in 8.5 x 11. Even when installing the same printer driver and defining the same custom page size form in the server properties. ____This happens using 6.5.08 and 8.1. If I new what R&R was looking for to define the page size perhaps I could figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.____Thanks,__Randal Ferguson

If the printer/custom page size is the same on the second machine, then this really should work and I am not sure why it does not.____Can you try opening the report in the Designer on the second machine so that you can see/adjust the page settings?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____Thanks for the reply...____>If the printer/custom page size is the same on the second __>machine, then this really should work and I am not sure why __>it does not. __>__>Can you try opening the report in the Designer on the second __>machine so that you can see/adjust the page settings? __>____Yes, when I open the report on the 2nd machine and check the page size it reads Letter. If I pick the custom page size and save then it works!. The printer driver on both machines is an Epson LQ-800 and the form is named "User-defined size". ____There must be something R&R is saving (or not saving) with the report that makes it different on each machine. I^ve made the printer driver name and custom form size name exactly the same.____In XP when you go to Page Setup it will show you the name of the custom page size but not the dimensions. In Win95/98/ME you see the dimensions below the paper selected in parenthesis, i.e. (8.5 x 7). ____When the report is saved on one machine with XP and then opened in the designer on another machine with XP the printer setup does show the correct printer (muliple printer drivers installed on both machines) but the Page Setup always reads Letter instead of User-defined size. It^s like it cannot find that size or doesn^t recognize the size saved with the report so it defaults to letter.____We have thousands of customers, many that use forms that are custom sizes. Many are upgrading to WinXP and this is becoming a huge problem for us. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. ____Thanks,__Randal Ferguson__________________

Kathleen,____As a side note, can you tell me how R&R determines what the page size will be? When I open the report in the designer on another computer in the Page Setup the size reads Letter even though I have a form size with the same name ("User-defined size") (I^ve tried different form names by the way). If you look at the report specifications on another computer via the designer the page length is blank, i.e. no page length listed. Why is this when the report was saved originally with "User-defined size"?____What is R&R looking for? Is it the form name or the actual dimensions? If I knew what R&R was saving with the report perhaps I could fix this problem?____Is it looking for something on the computer it cannot find, something that was on the computer where the report was designed perhaps? ____I^m using 6.5.08 and 8.1, would I have this problem in 9.0?____Pulling my hair out. <g>____Thanks,__Randal Ferguson____

R&R saves the named page size and not the actual dimensions.__I do not think that any changes were made in this area of the product between V8 and V9 so upgrade may not be a sure fix.____What happens if you go in the other direction of reselecting the page size on MachineB and then opening it on MachineA?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____>R&R saves the named page size and not the actual dimensions. __>I do not think that any changes were made in this area of __>the product between V8 and V9 so upgrade may not be a sure __>fix. __>__>What happens if you go in the other direction of reselecting __>the page size on MachineB and then opening it on MachineA? ____I have the same problem either way but your comment is helpful. I^ve tried renaming the form in XP as "CUSTOM" and this appears to be working. I can save the report on either XP machine and it will work on the other. In Win95/98/ME the printer properties read "Custom" but the page size was referred to as "User-defined size". Using this as the form name in XP didn^t seem to work. I noticed that on XP there where a number of predefined form sizes. When I called the form "User-defined size" it appeared to get confused with other form sizes that began with the letters "US". I wonder if case matters when R&R is trying to match the page size and what the max page size name is?____Thanks again,__Randal Ferguson__________
