This problem happens with some reports in .RP1 files (created with RR5 and RR6) when run by RRWRUN.EXE versions 7, 8.1, 10, and 10 .____I open the offending reports with the Windows Report Designer (any of the above verions) and receive messages that certain fields must be edited. The list of calculated fields shows a ? beside each field that must be edited. I edit each field in succession and verify the expression. They _all_ verify OK. I save the report to a RRW or RP5 and the report works fine under RRWRUN.____Is there a trick to cleaning up the RP1 so that RRWRUN will run the reports without error? I need to run the DOS and Windows apps concurrently for some time to come, therefore I need to keep the RP1 active.____Thanks,__Tim______

Is there any pattern to which calculations cause this problem?__I am not aware of anything specific that might cause this error and then just allow you to OK it away without actually changing anything in the calc expression.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I have not been able to find a pattern, though I have tried many things to detect clues.____All the "problem" fields are calculated fields, not total fields.____Tim

Can you send me a report that shows the problem along with its corresponding data files?____Kathleen__R&R Support__kfleming@livewarepub.com

Kathy, if you recall, I had a similar problem, sent in the rp1 file and it was determined that some wierd character was in the file what was causing the problem. I had to rename the file, create a new file and then reassign the file to the new file(with old name). It resolved the problem.

Tim^s problem seems more complex than that and what he ending up having to do was to create both an RP5 and and RP1 and then use the RP5 for the Windows versions. No amount of CPR on the original rp1 reports would make Windows happy.____Kathleen__R&R Support
