I have a simple report with a single record line containing two character fields. I want to export this report to a spreadsheet. I have run this export using versions 8, 9 and 12 of R&R and get the same error when attempting to read the worksheet file with MicroSoft Excel, namely, ^You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting^. My PC is Windows XP. I tried re-naming the file with an xls suffix and get the same problem. When I attempted to read to file with another spreadsheet program it opens the file but the first character in each field is missing. I am able to open other files with wks and xls suffices using Excel.

We have the same problem at my workplace, but it only happens on one computer. If I open the file on one of the non-problematic computers and save it as an .xls file, it will then work on the problem computer. We^re a bit stumped as to why this happens, but hopefully this work-around will do the trick for you.

Try the following link. A security path put out by Microsoft blocked Excel from opening WKS files. This is a link to the patch:____http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922850__

Is there an R&R solution to this problem?

You can alternatively export to a text data csv file which can be read in Excel without a problem.____Kathleen__R&R Support
