accented characters

In my DBF file, some fields have French words, and some of the words contain accented characters.____The accents appear fine in the DBF file (using Lotus Approach) but when I run the R&R report using the DBF file the accents do not appear.____In early 2008, I raised this question, solved the problem, but did not write it down, and have since changed computers. I recall there being a relatively simple setting in a Windows file, but could be wrong.____Please advise how to get the accents to come out in the R&R report____Thank you.

Edit the file RRW.SRT that is in the R&R program folder.__Remove the semi colon from the start of the line that says:__;DBCHARS=ANSI____That should take care of things.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Both are in the folder "REportworks Inifinity". But I cannot find RRW.SRT____The first two files appear to be narratives about sorting, but there is no line that has ;DBCHARS=ANSI.____

Since you said DBF, I assumed you were using the Xbase version.__In the SQL version you edit the file RSWSQL.INI and set DBANSI for the appropriate data source. RSWSQL.INI is a self documented file so open it up and look for DBANSI.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Still not succeeding.____I opened RSWSQL.INI and inserted a line DBCHARS=ANSI.____That had no effect.____I then looked back in your archived discussion and found what appears to be a similar problem with a user wanting a Spanish character. (I want characters in the French alphabet, such as é and ç.)____In his case, you recommended creation of a new file RRW.SRT which would contain only the line DBCHARS=ANSI. I created and saved the file in the ReportWorks Infinity folder.____Still no impact.____I^m using XBase edition Version 12, Build 12.5.001____

If you are using the Xbase version, create a text file called:__RRW.SRT in the R&R folder and add a line that says:____DBCHARS=ANSI____This should work for you.____Kathleen__R&R Support
