arpeggio crashing

Post by apettinotti_(Guest) » Wed Aug 21, 2002 7:26 pm

i^m running arpeggio 2 on winNT machines and i^ve suddenly got an issue that^s consistently crashing arpeggio.____i^ve have about 10 versions of a report, all of which have the same attached text file and a really long calculated field that refers to fields in the text file like this:____case(proccode,^DNONA^,PRDNONA,^DNABC^,PRDNABC...,^^)____(PRDNONA and PRDNABC are the names of fields in the attached text file)____this field has worked just fine in all the reports up until now - when any attempt to edit the field causes arpeggio to instantly shut down - just disappear, no error messages, no nothing - arpeggio is just GONE. this occurs in EVERY version of the report (the field is identical in all of them), and on every workstation in my office.____the report still prints and/or exports fine.____there have been no changes to the attached text file.____the last thing i did was add a new item to the calculated field, but that was months ago and i got no errors when i did that!____any ideas?

thanks for the reply, kathleen.____i tried re-writing the text file. same problem still occured.____i then created 3 new calc fields - breaking up my really long calculated field into 3 (as in, __test1: case(proccode,^duh^,duh1, ^blah^,blah1,test2)__test2: case(proccode,^ouch^,ouch1,^yeah^,yeah2,test3)__test3: case(proccode,^wow^,wow1,^grrr^,grrr1,^^)____and putting the first field on the report. then i deleted the offending calculated field.____this fixed the crashing problem - so i^m left to assume that despite the fact that i got no errors the last time i edited that large field, i probably exceeded the field size limit...
