closing R&R 9.0 in NT WS 4.0

Post by Michael_(Guest) » Fri Jun 08, 2001 1:40 pm

I just started running R&R 9.0 on NT WS 4.0w/SP6. R&R starts and runs fine so far but when I close R&R I receive a message from Dr. Watson which states:__"An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated."__ rrw.exe __Exception Access Violation(0xc0000005), Address 0x1000007c0__OK Cancel Help____The application error log is a huge dump too difficult to read. I click OK and it closes gracefully. When I restart R&R there seems to be no problems. Does anyone know what this is? ____Michael

Try renaming the following files that are in the R&R program directory. (You could add a -xxx to the end of each name.)____acfpdf.dll__acfpdf.txt__acfpdfui.dll__cdintf.dll____Let me know if this helps.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Hello Kathy, thank you for your guidance. I cannot find the actpdf.dll, actpdf.txt, or actpdfui.dll files you mention. The only "actpdf" file I found is the .drv version. I found cdintf.dll but when I went to rename it I received a sharing violation. Two users were using R&R when I tried to rename the file so I assume R&R will need these files to run itself. ____We have a multi-user license for R&R and I have installed it on a shared network volume. Then, I set it up on each of the 5 PCs to point(shortcut) to the R&R EXE(I ran the setup program to do this). I also have a problem on an NT Worstation where it will not let me un-install RR9, I get an error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated..____Michael____

You would need to do the rename when no one is using R&R.____What error do you get when you try to un-install on the workstation?____Kathleen__R&R Support

I discovered the problem: there is a file "rrpostin.exe" which is supposed to be in the Winntsystem32 folder, it wasn^t. I copied it from my network share to this folder on my local drive and the uninstall worked. I will reinstall RR9 on this NT Workstation when I get back from lunch, then see if the Exit error message occurs again.____Michael

Well, I re-installed RR9 and the error message persists every time I exit the application. Dr. Watson reports the error each time, same as before. Any advice as to why this is happening and how to solve it would be appreciated.
