missing data

I am having trouble with data that is now coming up partially missing in some of my reports. I upgraded RW to 11.1.009 and I am using the Extended Systems Advatage Database Server 8.0 with NetWare 6.0. Some of my reports which have been working fine up to now are now not showing all the information. I was in contact with the Advantage software folks about this, and their tech said he had recently become aware of "an issue with R & R Report Writer where it is not able to read changes in a file until it is closed if the table component is set to open the table using AdsLockType of Proprietary and not Compatible". I have searched in vain for anything in the RW system that looks like what they^re talking about. Do you know what they mean, and where I can find it? Right now the only solution is for me to remove all users, re-index the entire database, and then run my report! Not the best choice of course.____david

The suggestions made by ADS support apply to things on the Advantage side rather than the R&R side. R&R does indeed read from the table info that has been written to disk. Anything that is still buffered is viewable in Advantage but not in R&R since it is not yet committed to disk.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____Thanks for the clue, and a good call. More specifically, the latest version (8.0) of Advantage Database Server does indeed have a cache-ing routine that looks at available memory and uses that to speed things up. If any users have the file open, then nothing gets updated on the disk until they are all out. Setting the cache-ing value in the configuration file to a zero forces it to write to the disk, and not hold anything back.____david__
