pin-feed printing and XP
pin-feed printing and XP
i have an RR report that has been running without problems since version 6.5 (16 bit) - but my customer has moved to XP from Win/98 and now the page footer is in the middle of the page instead of close to the bottom of the page where it should be...____problems with page footer lines.__the form is pin-feed and "legal" size length (14 inches). the customer aligns at the top line to be printed and the page header and record lines all look great - but the page footer lines have moved up over 2 inches. the font being used is "Courier New"-10 point.____problem with jumping to the next form.__since the form is also continuous - the next form starts 2 inches higher than expected - so only the first form is acceptable.____the page setup in RR is NO MARGINS as i controlled the printing by inserting blank lines at the bottom of the report in the page footer lines - which worked fine before XP.____i can fix the problem by reducing the number of page footer lines - and the first page footer line will print in the correct spot - __but the data on the next continuous form is almost 1 inch high - __so those page footer lines must be needed.____i also experimented with top and bottom margins and all i ever get is a good single form - but the next form will not line up the data with the form -____how (in XP) - do we control the printing on a pin-feed report?____help !!!!____the temp fix right now is that the customer is using a single workstation loaded with win/98 to run the RR report.____oh how i just love microsoft^s updates to the operating system.__

You could try a different printer driver and see if that helps at all.____Kathleen__R&R Support

problem solved - thanks for the suggestion.____i changed the dotmatrix printer (an old Okidata) from emulation of an Epson to emulation of an IBM ProPrinter II - then installed the printer drivers for the IBM ProPrinter - and VOILA - the reports works fine from XP...____i guess the Okidata print drivers provided in XP are unreliable - at least that^s my opinion.____Hurray for the ole IBM print driver - it works GREAT !____now an old VFP app with RR doing the reports is back working like it has been for over 6 years without any maintenance...____nick__
