Can use index on a datetime field

Post by kraigyb » Mon Mar 21, 2011 5:11 pm

I^m using version 12.5.001 with foxpro 9 tables. When I select a datetime field as the Master Index tab, the Data Type is Character. Shouldn^t the Data Type be Date/Time?____If I try Starting and Ending Scope values such as:__^9/1/2010 12:00:00 AM^ to ^10/1/2010 12:00:00 AM^ I get the message "Low value is greater than high value".____Is there something I^m doing wrong or is it not possible to use scope values with datetime fields?____Thanks!________

Thanks for your patience. I see you posted a similar message a few days ago.____The short answer is that we^re analyzing what happens with DateTime index scope values. Within FoxPro, you have to____seek {^2003-02-14 00:00:00}____(if you have strict date on) if you want to find a date based on an index.____Since DateTime values have been in Visual Foxpro for quite some time (VFP 5 supports them), I think there must be some way to handle this data type within scopes. We^ll figure it out.
