How do you correct the R*R xBase Error - Cannot read user file drive:directoryRRWSHARERRWUSERS.DAT. We cannot get into the application. We are running a LAN version of R&R Windows for xBase databases and have tried to restore the RRWUSERS.DAT without any success. Also, does anyone know why this happens or what causes this?

Re-installing should correct things.__Also make sure that users do have read/write access to the DAT file.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Do you mean to reinstall the R&R s/w on the LAN. Or should the user^s re-run the setup.exe from the LAN that re-sets and configures their work station to utilize the LAN version? Thanks for responding.

Also, This has been happening quite often and to constatnly re-install the s/w is not an efficient way to remedy this each time. Is it known what causes this? Is there any way this can be prevented? Is this a known bug with R&R? Thanks again!

Is this a network installation?__Can you run the user management program RRWUSERS.EXE and see available serial numbers?__Does it matter who is logged on to the workstation when the error occurs?____Kathleen__R&R Support

When running this executable a dialogue box comes up saying "RRWUsers.dat is not an R&R xBase Serial Number file". No, right now now users are able to get in.

What version of R&R are you using?____I think that there was a bug in one of the earlier releases that could cause serial number file corruption.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I found that if I copied a backup file of the RRWUSERS file into the RRWUSERS.DAT file, IN DOS MODE, I did not mess with the rights. It worked well in my instance.
