Changing "Data Source" Reference

Post by Dan » Tue Sep 27, 2005 9:58 am

Is it possible to change the ^Data Source^ on a report. I have a data source of ^Intersolv^ and want to switch to ^SQLServer^ for a report created with an Intersolv data source. I delete the reference tables for the intersolv report so that I will be prompted for new tables to configure for report, but am not able to change the "Data Source" to point to ^SQLServer^ ODBC reference and the new table. Any clue would help.__Thanks__Dan

Open the report using the menu selection File Open. As long as you have allow choice of Data Source enabled, you should be able to select the data source using the third box on the bottom of the dialog after you select the report name.____Kathleen__R&R Support

If I have an existing report, where I have deleted the data table so the dialog box appears asking to replace tables, I select OK, a dialog box appears with only the "Available Data sources" and only the original ones are shown. No ^Add^ is available. The data source for the SQL is not shown. However, if I select "New report" or "Instant Report", I can add data sources. I cannot change/add data sources for existing reports because only the original ones are shown.____Any more thoughts?__Dan

When I open up a report, I don^t get a chance to change data sources. Maybe that is the problem. I have set the rsw.ini parameters__READREPORTALWAYSUSESAMEDS=0__What other setting are required to allow changing data source?____Thanks__Dan

I have also selected the "change data source" on opening via the "Preferences" setting.

When you use the choice File Open in the Designer do you see 3 boxes at the bottom of the Dialog that are labeled:____File name:__Files of type:__Data Source:____And when you select a report, is the name of the data source displayed in the third Data Source box?____Kathleen__R&R Support
