Changing NTX to CDX in XBase Ver 9

We are running the XBase version 9 of R&R against our .DBF files with .NTX indexes. We are now changing from .NTX to .CDX for our indexes. New reports work fine with the .CDX index on the related files. Some of the existing reports work fine when changing the index on the related files from .NTX to .CDX. On other reports, the related records are not found when the index is chaged from .NTX to .CDX. If the same report is built originally with .CDX it works fine. As a long time R&R user, we have too many reports to manually recreate them all. Any suggestions on how to make the change in indexes or could we somehow export the report information, change it to .CDX and import to work like the new reports do? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do the problem reports have the appropriate tag selected from the index so that the relation should find records?____Kathleen__R&R Support

On each of the indexes involved there is only a choice of one tag. We have both the .NTX and the .CDX indexes built. By changing to the .NTX files for the index the report runs fine. Changing back to the .CDX index files for the related files the reports do not find the related records.

Yet a new report with that same exact relation is fine?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Yes, a new report with exactly the same relations works fine if created with CDX indexes. The original report works fine with NTX indexes on the related files but fails when the indexes on the original report are changed to CDX.

I can think of no plausible explanation but if you want to send me the report and data files, I can take a look to see what might be happening.____Kathleen__R&R Support__kfleming@livewarepub.com

Sorry for the misinformation. I went back and tried the same relationship that I was told worked with .NTX and new reports with .CDX but not changed reports with .CDX. As it turns out, the relationship works with .NTX and does NOT work with .CDX in either a new or changed report with the same relationship. The files in this particular case are fairly large. If possible I would like to send you a CD with the report and files for you to see.__The other part is still true, some relationships work fine with the .CDX. I haven^t done enough yet to try and determine a pattern for which ones work and which ones don^t.__Thanks,__John Skala__Store Supply Warehouse, Inc.

I looked at your data files/indexes and there does appear to be a problem with the STOCK1.CDX. But the problem is not exclusive to R&R.__I tried using that index in a relation in both Crystal and in native Visual Foxpro (by relating the STOCK.DBF back to itself using that index) and in all cases no matching records were found. The indexes on your other two tables seemed fine so maybe you just need to re-build this one to get things to work.____Kathleen__R&R Support
