Citrix problem

Post by dcambio » Tue Feb 22, 2005 3:16 pm

All, I am running the PAR Springer-Miller Systems application that utilized R&R, and I get the following error when exiting R&R after saving/trying to save a report:____The instruction at "0x012237c0" reference memory at 0x00000038" the memory could not be read.____This problem does not happen if you connect to R&R via a regular desktop PC or when run directly on the database server. It only happens from the Citrix servers. ____What I have done so far:__- tried the PRINTER= line in the rrw.ini__- tried renaming the cdintf.dll, this produced the same error except it said "memory could not be written<write>"__- we have a printer installed on the database server and on the Citrix servers and the same pritner is set as default on both locations.____I am hoping maybe someone has run into this problem before, thank you.__

If the error occurs when saving reports you need to add the line:__LIBRARIAN=OFF____to the DEFAULTS section of the RRW.INI file.____Kathleen__R&R Support

After a direct conversation with Kathleen at support, we found that the rrw.ini from the c:windows folder on the database server was not being read. Kathleen informed me that the installation/running folder is where(ie the location of rrw.exe is where R&R by default looks to find the rrw.ini. In this case from the R&R on the Citrix servers, T: rwriter was the location it was looking 1st and it was not finding the INI. Where it was getting the settings I have no idea. Once we placed the INI in the T: rwriter folder and added the librarian=off line, there were no more memory errors and the report functionality was visably faster in our application. Thank you Kathleen for all of your assistance on this issue.:D

Ok...the conclusion of the Citrix rrw.ini sage...__1. On the citrix 1&2 systems we uninstalled R&R (using the change user command)__2. Then did a search on both servers for rrw.ini and deleted all of them__3. deleted the rrw.ini in the t: rwriter folder__4. reinstalled R&R on the citrix users (using the change user command)__5. verified the rrw.ini created in c:windows on the citrix servers__6. added the librarian=off line__7. logged into our application and tested the report - no error__8. verified rrw.ini was written to c:documents & settings<username>windows__9. tried logging in as another user and tested the report - error__10. logged out as that user, deleted the windows profile for the 2nd user on both servers, logged back in and tested - this worked____If anything more comes up, I will post.
