Data Dictionary / Index Errors

Post by jmiskey » Tue Feb 22, 2005 3:22 pm

We have a control file that we use to run some DOS Report Writer reports from PowerPlus. We have been using them for some time now without any problems.____However, we recently went through a server move, and all the drives changed. So, I updated the control file appropriately to reflect the changes. However, we are now getting an error message that says:____"Cannot find data dictionary file or index"____If I run the report directly from PowerPlus, I do not get any errors, but for some reason I cannot run it from the control file anymore.____Can anybody help?____Thanks.

If you are using the DOS version of R&R, the dictionary info is saved in RR.CNF. To change the CNF file you need to run RRSETUP.EXE, select the CNF file and the use the Files-Directories menu choice to re-select the dictionary location.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I am kind of confused as to what the settings should be.____If I go into RRSETUP, go into Configuration, select RR.CNF file, and got to defaults, I can see the following option near the bottom of the page:____"Default data dictionary database file"____The entry is currently blank. What should it be? ____(BTW, Report Writer is at the root of my R drive, so the drive path is R:/RR).

OK, we think we figured out the problem. There was a copy of the old RR.CNF in each of the folders where the control files run the jobs from. We think it was looking to these old files, so we copied over the new RR.CNF to replace all the old ones in the folders and the jobs seem to run OK now.
