Upgrading from xBase to SQL

Ask any questions you have about purchasing R&R ReportWorks. Will it work with my operating system? Will it access my database? Can I convert my old reports?

Upgrading from xBase to SQL

Post by Andrew_Cosolo_(Guest) » Wed Jan 30, 2002 5:06 pm

My users are using SLIM, a Foxpro based property management system, and use R&R Reports. They are planning to upgrade to a new Oracle based version of the same program.____I am hoping the vendor will keep the same table and field names.____If so, if we bought the SQL version of R&R could we seamlessly migrate the reports over?____What is the migration process like? What hapens when a table or field is different? Will the whole import fail or will it load minus the column?____Thanks

You will be able to open the report but will need to make manual edits to get things working.__The difficulty of this process really depends on how individual reports are constructed and how closely the SQL table structures are to the old Xbase files.____Kathleen__R&R Support
