Field Selection

Post by Cliff_Wiernik_(Guest) » Mon Apr 02, 2001 11:43 pm

It appears that all the windows releases have dropped incremental searching of fields from the field browse windows. They should implement the DOS version of Alt-keys or a simple incremental search on keystrokes. I have tried the windows version an cannot come anywhere close to the speed of report creation as in the DOS version.

This is listed as a work item in our enhancement/bug database along with a request to be able to sort order field listings.__But we have not yet determined in what future release this will be added.______Kathleen__R&R Support__

This has been listed as a potential enhancement since windows version 6.5. It is about time it is implemented. Otherwise continuing to upgrade is not much benefit if it takes to long to create reports. For instance, inserting from a database with 600 fields, all starting with "n", "c" or "d" is very tedious. In clipper Tbrowses with incremental search are a time a dozen to program. In xbase, libraries are used that provide this (express++ and topdown, not to mention several others).____We need to stop using standard windows behavior when it is utterly unproductive. ____
