Autofill on list lookup

Nearly all of my dbfs and reports have a hundred or more calculated variables and/or total fields. When I go to insert a variable into a report design, it would be great to have an autofill feature, so that I don^t have to either scroll through the variable list looking for my particular variable or keep hitting the same first letter of the variable over and over (and over and over).

Yes, as a matter of fact, that would get me half-way there. Is there a way to do that?
