Rpt Spec- export to ascii text file

It would extremely useful if the report "specification" output could be exported to a text file - in addition to the normal print/print preview options.____That way - a set of report "specs" could be saved in softcopy form for future reference.____I have tried unsuccessfully to use the MS printer driver called "generic text only" - but that seems to still send the printer control characters with the text.____And - if you click "save to file" on the normal print dialog - it always includes all those printer control characters - which is a real mess if it^s a postscript printer.__

If you are using Version 9, every time you save a report, in the RL subdirectory there will be a REPTSPEC.TXT that is an ASCII text report specification.______Kathleen__R&R Support

Thanks for the information on the RL rptspec text file. ____Unfortunately we can not use the RL.exe in it^s present design as we have no WRITE access rights to the location of the RR software on our LAN.____The RL working files need to be able to be moved to another location other than the location of the EXE files as an installation option.__We could point to that location as a command line switch or a new INI setting.______Any chance of this small enhancement making it into the upcoming v10?__

here is an update to my effort to send the report spec to a text file - without using the RL files:____I have been able to use the MS GENERIC TEXT-ONLY print driver successfully. You can find it under "GENERIC" as printer name and the printer is called "TEXT-ONLY".____if you select SPECIFICATION as the output type, select GENERIC TEXT-ONLY as the printer - check the "send print to file" box - enter a drive letter and filename in the filename text box - then it works.____The only limitation I^ve found is that NOTEPAD seems to display non-printable characters - and the VFP editor does not - so i have used the VFP text editor to view and print the file as needed.__
